As part of empowering and encouraging young people to engage in volunteer work, a seminar was organized to promote volunteer work among young people and achieve the Qatar 2030 vision, in partnership between the youth sector of Al-Duhail Sports Club and the youth sector of Al-Wakra Sports Club, on the occasion of the Arab Youth Day, which was held under the patronage of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth. A group of Qatari youth leaders spoke about defining forms of volunteer work, informal volunteering, and governance volunteering.

&In turn, Mr. Mohamed Abdel-Rehim Al-Hidous, head of the Youth Department, emphasized that the areas of volunteer work are diverse, with the most important being formal volunteering, which is organized. This type of volunteering involves the organization of the participation of volunteers through providing them with a set of guidelines, policies, and procedures established by organizations. Examples of formal volunteering include delivering food to elderly care facilities. As for youth volunteering, it is defined as the activity in which a person dedicates a portion of their time and skills to achieve a specific goal, such as providing assistance to individuals, communities, or non-profit organizations, without receiving financial compensation. Volunteer activities are typically managed by civil society organizations, charities, or government organizations, such as organizations that conduct blood donation campaigns and fundraising activities.

He stated that informal volunteering is a type of volunteering that meets the social needs of the community, such as volunteering to serve members of the local community or volunteering to manage a local group for the purpose of engaging in sports or recreational activities. In addition to volunteering in social work groups, this type of volunteering is similar to informal volunteering, but the difference between the two types lies in the fact that volunteering in social work groups is primarily aimed at making changes in the community to serve a specific cause. Examples of this type of volunteering include volunteering for an environmental group or volunteering with social organizations.
