The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, represented by the Wildlife Development Directorate, held a coordination meeting with United Development Company to discuss the awareness plan regarding the threat posed by the invasive Egyptian goose and the mechanism for redistributing goose traps in targeted areas of Pearl Island, as part of the national program to control the population of the invasive Egyptian goose in the Qatari environment.

The meeting also included a review of the joint efforts to raise community awareness of the negative impact of the Myna bird on biodiversity, as well as exploring better mechanisms for relocating traps in areas with a high bird population, in order to reduce its numbers and minimize its negative impact on ecosystems.

Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors to support national efforts in the field of environmental protection and achieving sustainability goals, as well as maintaining the ecological balance in the country.
