Coffee culture and the exchange of ideas

The Mysem team

2 min read

For centuries, coffee houses have been places for conversation and learning. Why a cup of coffee is still a good place for ideas and partnerships to begin.

In our culture coffee has always meant hospitality and the majlis, and throughout history coffee houses have meant conversation: merchants met poets, students met scholars, and news and opinions changed hands. That was no accident. A café is neutral ground where everyone feels at ease, with room for long conversations without formality.

Unplanned encounters

Many successful partnerships began with a chance conversation at the next table, or a question after a talk. Those unplanned encounters rarely happen in formal meetings, but they come naturally in a place that brings different people together around a shared interest.

From listening to taking part

When a seminar is held where people gather for coffee, the audience turns from listeners into participants. The discussion carries on after the talk, the speaker keeps talking with whoever has a question, and ideas that were never on the agenda start to take shape.

The idea behind Mysem

That is where Mysem comes from: a hall for seminars and courses, and a café that brings its visitors together before and after. A code on your cup opens the reflection of the day, the seminar under way and the menu, because we believe knowledge and hospitality complete each other.

Next time you order your coffee, look around you. The next conversation might be the start of an idea worth pursuing.
